Description: PCQNG is a free software application that provides a high-speed stream of one-bit of physical entropy to a compatible PC application. It is the replacement for the "true random number" utility in Windows95, 98, NT, 2000, ME and XP. This is an application for Windows and uses the Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP file system APIs. The primary target is Windows, however it should run on most operating systems that use DOS APIs, such as the XNU kernel on MacOS X. Entropy is a measure of the randomness of a sequence. The more random the sequence is, the higher its entropy. The only function that can't be implemented with a The principle behind PCQNG is rather straightforward and is based on a fast series of one-bit XOR gates fed by the output of the PC hardware. Each gate produces a high or low pulse (one-bit) based on the active high or low state of the PC hardware at that moment.
